The Brazilian presence at High Point Market reinforces the importance of the country’s furniture industry in the Americas

Check out the outcomes from the recent autumn edition of the event, which featured 21 Brazilian companies

 

The direct outreach to the North American market and the opening of new commercial fronts in Central America were the main highlights of the Brazilian Furniture Project’s participation in the fall edition of High Point Market 2023, which took place from October 14 to 18 in the city of High Point, in the United States. An initiative of ABIMÓVEL (The Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), the project took 21 Brazilian companies to the show, coming up with $18.43 million in prospective deals for the next 12 months. 

 

These companies were divided into two main activities: all of them took part in business rounds with 17 buyers from six different countries (USA, Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, and Puerto Rico) as part of the Trade Mission promoted by the Brazilian Furniture team; while 10 of these companies also exhibited their products on exclusive booths at the High Point Market, allowing international buyers to see the quality and design of Brazilian furniture up close.

The outcomes from these activities underscore the strategic importance of the Brazilian Furniture Project in target markets for the country’s furniture industry. Overall, 291 contacts were established, with over 85% of them being new business connections. Immediate deals amounted to $1.39 million, with expectations of an additional $17.04 million in the upcoming year.

Buyers from these countries can see firsthand the quality and design of our furniture, as well as the productive capacity of the Brazilian industry, which boasts unique and original raw materials, techniques, and processes. They can also learn a bit more about the sustainable practices in the social and environmental management of the companies”, emphasizes ABIMÓVEL Executive Director and Manager of the Brazilian Furniture Project, Cândida Cervieri.

The growing influence of Central America on the international scene has indeed been noted at the fair. Countries in this region have shown significant progress in terms of technological advancement, labor market, and consequently an increase in the quality of life and purchasing power of local consumers.

Clarissa Franco, manager of the Brazilian Furniture Project at ApexBrasil, concludes: “Among many points, the participation of the project and associated companies at the High Point Market highlights the leading role of Brazilian furniture in the North American market, while also emphasizing the potential of emerging markets in Latin America and the capacity of the Brazilian industry to meet this new demand.”

After the High Point Market, the Brazilian Furniture Project is getting ready to cross the ocean toward Europe. The next stop for the Brazilian furniture industry is Germany, at IMM Cologne, which takes place from January 14 to 18, 2024.

Brazilian Furniture Project

The Brazilian Furniture Project is an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL (The Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) and ApexBrasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which aims to increase the participation of Brazilian companies in the international market through a set of strategic actions based on the pillars of sustainability, competitiveness, and design integrated into the industry.

Around 150 companies participate in the project, having access to strategic information on Commercial and Competitive Intelligence, International Trade Fairs and Missions, Buyer Projects, Image Project, Design programs, among other numerous activities abroad.

For this and next year, the proposal for commercial promotion in line with the project foresees a robust effort, with more than 50 structuring and strategic actions in priority and secondary target markets, in both physical and remote formats, further expanding the possibilities for participation and engagement by the project’s member companies and international buyers.
