Brazilian Furniture in Milan: ‘DESIGN + INDUSTRY’ launches 21 new pieces at iSaloni 2024

The program is part of the Brazilian Furniture Project, developed by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with ApexBrasil, connecting Brazilian industries and designers

One of the most prestigious events in the design and furniture world, the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024, or as it is popularly known, iSaloni, will be the scene of a great celebration of creativity, raw materials, sustainable management, and the integration of Brazilian industry and design. In addition to the eight Brazilian companies that will be exhibiting their collections in a prominent position at the fair – which takes place between April 16 and 21, 2024, in Milan, Italy – the Brazilian Furniture Project is also preparing the “DESIGN + INDUSTRY” exhibition: presenting 41 new pieces developed by 22 brands in collaboration with national designers through the program.

The show takes place in Hall 03 – D21/D23 of the traditional Rho Fiera Milano, showing first-hand the results of the partnerships promoted by the program between 2022 and 2023. The Design + Industry program is a strategic component of the Brazilian Furniture Project, an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which aims to increase the competitiveness and consequently the exports of the Brazilian furniture industry, promoting internationalization and expanding the presence of these brands on the global market.

The program operates at all stages of product development and commercialization, from conception to production, marketing, and commercial promotion, connecting furniture designers and manufacturers who align and complement each other to integrate and boost the creative and technological potential of the national furniture sector.

The pieces and collections developed through these partnerships therefore combine creativity and technology, as well as sustainability, production efficiency, and economic viability. Some of the characteristics that will be highlighted at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, which is considered the most important showcase for furniture design in the world.

Cândida Cervieri, executive director of ABIMÓVEL and manager of Brazilian Furniture, stresses the importance of the program: “The development of pieces and collections is a complex process that involves several stages, from market research and product conception to large-scale production and distribution. Design + Industry supports the various stages of this process, collaborating not only in aesthetic terms but also in efficiency, so that our industry can develop ever higher quality products that meet the desires and needs of the national and international markets.”

The participation of these Brazilian companies and professionals alongside the world’s biggest brands in the sector in Milan once again demonstrates the positioning of the national furniture sector in the global market, while highlighting as well all the particularities that make up the so-called “Brazilianness”: the hallmark of the country’s design, known for its natural raw materials, especially native woods and other elements such as fibers and ropes, leathers, fabrics, wools and weaves; as well as organic colors; sustainable practices and special techniques; as well as shapes that seem to materialize the popular Brazilian rhythm.

See details below:

The Brazil Lounge, in Hall 03, will be the meeting point, in a space specially designed to welcome, interact and integrate. The furniture will be provided by Uultis, a high-end brand from the Herval Group, which brings sophistication and Brazilian essence to the ambient. Elevating the comfort and warmth characteristic of Brazilian culture even further, the lounge will also feature the Tropical Forest hammock from Akra Collection, a piece that is an ode to traditional techniques and natural fibers found in the country.

In addition, the Brazilian Furniture Project is also collaborating with exclusive actions on the FuoriSalone circuit, which takes place in various locations in and around Milan between April 15 and 28, 2024, expanding the reach of its influence and showing the diversity of national design and industry.
