There’s Still Time: “Design + Industry” Exhibition Open to the Public in Brasília Until July 20, 2025

If you’re in Brasília or planning to visit the Brazilian capital in the coming weeks, you still have the chance to experience the special “Design + Industry” exhibition at the National Museum of the Republic. The show has been extended and will remain open to the public until July 20, 2025, with free admission, as part of the official program of the Brasília Design Week (BDW) 2025.

It’s a unique opportunity to explore, in one of the city’s most iconic cultural spaces, the results of collaborative work between designers and manufacturers from different regions of Brazil. The featured pieces were developed with the support of the Brazilian Furniture Project, an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which promotes the internationalization and competitive growth of the Brazilian furniture industry.

Design as a Contemporary Expression

After being showcased at Milan Design Week and New York Design Week, “Design + Industry” arrives in Brasília with a selection of creations that merge innovation, sustainability, and Brazilian identity. More than just a furniture exhibition, the show highlights major global design trends, such as the use of renewable materials, hybrid and multifunctional solutions, a focus on original and locally inspired design, and a strong social and environmental commitment. By doing so, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how we produce, consume, and interact with objects in our daily lives.

According to Cândida Cervieri, Executive Director of ABIMÓVEL, “When strategically applied within the industry, design drives process transformation, fosters smart solutions, and elevates the international profile of Brazilian manufacturing — reinforcing the country’s image as a source of innovation and quality in the global market.”

An Experience in the Heart of Brasília

Housed at the National Museum of the Republic, right on Brasília’s Monumental Axis, the exhibition is part of the Brasília Design Week 2025, a city-wide event that turns the capital into a vibrant stage for design, featuring exhibitions, talks, workshops, parallel shows, and urban interventions.

With the theme “Design, Memory, and Future”, this year’s BDW sparks a dialogue between Brasília’s cultural legacy — as a UNESCO Creative City of Design — and contemporary perspectives that connect creativity, innovation, and sustainable development.

Brazilian Furniture Project

The Brazilian Furniture Project is a sectoral initiative by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with ApexBrasil. Its goal is to expand the international presence of Brazil’s furniture industry through a strategic set of actions grounded in sustainability, competitiveness, and design integration. Currently, around 175 companies are engaged in the project.

In 2024, Brazil ranked as the sixth-largest furniture and mattress producer in the world and the 26th largest exporter, generating over US$ 763.02 million in revenue from finished products — a 3.8% increase compared to 2023. Including parts for furniture manufacturing, the total reached US$ 870.20 million.

In this new cycle (2025–2026), the organizers invite not only furniture manufacturers and designers, but also suppliers and component producers to join the project, further amplifying the reach of Brazilian furniture and reinforcing the global competitiveness of the “Brazil” brand.
