Design Takes Center Stage at ForMóbile 2026, Bringing Pieces Shown in Milan and New York to São Paulo

A selection of nearly 40 pieces previously presented at major international events brings suppliers, manufacturers, designers and buyers together while paving the way for a new generation of Brazilian projects

A finished piece of furniture is the result of an extensive production and creative chain. Before reaching the market, it passes through a complex network of decisions involving raw materials, components, machinery, technology, design, engineering, finishing, manufacturing and logistics. At ForMóbile 2026 (International Furniture and Wood Industry Trade Show), this journey comes into focus through a special exhibition organized by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Industry Association). Located on the mezzanine level of São Paulo Expo, the exhibition brings together nearly 40 pieces by dozens of brands, designers and creative studios.

The participating companies and professionals are connected to three initiatives led by ABIMÓVEL and its institutional partners. Design + Industry is developed by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), as part of the Brazilian Furniture Project, with a focus on the internationalization of the sector. PDCIMob (Furniture Development, Competitiveness and Integration Project)  is carried out in partnership with Sebrae (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service), supporting the growth and development of micro and small businesses. The Brazilian Furniture Design Award, currently accepting entries for its second edition, is also organized by ABIMÓVEL with support from ApexBrasil and Sebrae.

Previously presented at major events—including Salone del Mobile.Milano in Italy, ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York and Brasília Design Week in Brazil’s federal capital—the pieces now arrive at São Paulo Expo, where the 11th edition of ForMóbile takes place from June 30 through July 3.

The exhibition builds a bridge between two complementary environments. On one side, it offers a snapshot of the work Brazil presented across some of the world’s leading furniture and design platforms this year. On the other, it places those pieces within a business trade show dedicated to the technologies, materials and solutions that drive furniture manufacturing.

By bringing part of Brazil’s international design showcase to ForMóbile, ABIMÓVEL reinforces a strategic view of the sector: design and manufacturing do not operate in separate spheres. The quality and competitiveness of a finished product depend on the integration of those who design, supply, process, manufacture, distribute and bring furniture to market.

The selected pieces reflect a range of creative and production approaches. Together, they bring distinct design perspectives into dialogue with industrial capabilities, demonstrating how innovation and identity can emerge not only from form, but also from material selection, production efficiency, finishing techniques and the more effective use of resources.

Connections Across Design, Manufacturing and the Market

At a trade show traditionally focused on suppliers to the furniture industry, finished furniture helps make the impact of every preceding stage more tangible. Hardware, panels, surface materials, machinery, textiles, components and technologies are no longer viewed in isolation, but through what they make possible.

Wood, metals, fibers, textiles, polymers, leather, renewable materials and hybrid solutions appear across a wide range of styles, approaches and applications. Rather than presenting a single, uniform image of Brazilian design, the collection reveals multiple ways of working with materials, structure, surfaces, proportion and use.

The pieces also embody qualities that extend beyond appearance, including ergonomics, structural performance, comfort, social and environmental responsibility, scalability and solutions developed for specific needs.

This combination helps explain why Brazil’s connection to the world’s major design platforms extends beyond the physical circulation of products. What also returns to the country is a broader understanding of the global market, built through exchanges with buyers, architects, specifiers, curators, manufacturers and industry professionals who assess furniture according to international standards of quality, innovation, origin and differentiation.

By hosting the exhibition, ForMóbile reinforces this two-way exchange. The trade show brings international references closer to Brazil’s manufacturing environment while demonstrating that the development of competitive products depends on a value chain capable of connecting creativity, research, sourcing, technology, prototyping, production, sustainability and commercial strategy.

Design + Industry Connects Brazil with the World

Part of the Brazilian Furniture Project, Design + Industry positions design as a cross-disciplinary and foundational tool for Brazil’s furniture sector, connecting designers with manufacturers of different sizes, specialties and regions across the country.

In addition to supporting the development of new products and collections, the program creates a collaborative environment in which cultural references, material diversity, creative expertise, manufacturing knowledge, processes, scale and planning can be considered together.

Now entering its sixth cycle, the program brings together 30 companies and approximately 40 designers and creative studios representing a range of manufacturing specialties and design languages.

The goal is for these collaborations to generate not only furniture and objects, but also long-term partnerships capable of opening new perspectives for the furniture and interiors industries.

PDCIMob Advances Competitiveness and Integration Across the Furniture Value Chain

The Furniture Development, Competitiveness and Integration Project, or PDCIMob, is an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with Sebrae. It is designed specifically to strengthen micro and small businesses operating throughout Brazil’s furniture industry.

The project is based on the understanding that improving the sector’s competitiveness requires a combination of market intelligence, business development, design, innovation and access to new commercial opportunities.

In its new cycle, PDCIMob is structured around five complementary pillars: Sector, Digital and Commercial Intelligence; Competitiveness Improvement; Commercial Connections and Expansion; Sustainability and ESG; and Regional Integration.

Through these areas, participating companies gain access to strategic content, business assessments, training, professional networks and initiatives supporting product development, digital transformation, market positioning, design-industry collaboration and business generation.

At the ForMóbile 2026 exhibition, pieces developed through PDCIMob—connecting small manufacturers with designers and creative studios across Brazil—demonstrate how this work can translate into contemporary, competitive, commercially viable and value-added products.

Second Brazilian Furniture Design Award Offers a Passport to Milan 2027

The recognition achieved by pieces from the award’s inaugural edition also serves as an invitation to the next cycle.

Entries for the second Brazilian Furniture Design Award remain open through July 7, 2026 (exclusive for national brands and professionals). Manufacturers, woodworking companies, designers, architects, students and creative professionals of different sizes and from every region of Brazil are eligible to participate.

The new edition includes categories dedicated to industrial and craft production, the bioeconomy, manufacturing excellence, innovation, workplace furniture and the development of emerging talent.

This broader structure recognizes that meaningful design can originate in many environments—from a design studio to the factory floor, a woodworking shop, a university or research into new materials and manufacturing processes.

The finalists will be featured in a special exhibition during the 13th National Furniture Congress in Curitiba, Paraná, on November 4 and 5. The winning pieces will then be presented in the Brazil Pavilion at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2027, taking place from April 13 through 18.

Buyer Project Expands International Business Connections at ForMóbile

ABIMÓVEL’s agenda at ForMóbile 2026 also includes international business matchmaking sessions organized in partnership with ApexBrasil through the Buyer Project, an initiative of the Brazilian Furniture Project.

The meetings take place from June 30 through July 2 at the São Paulo Expo and are divided into two business tracks. One focuses on suppliers to the furniture value chain, including manufacturers of components, materials, hardware, machinery and equipment. The other is dedicated to manufacturers of finished furniture.

Approximately 60 Brazilian companies will participate in the meetings, connecting with buyers from nearly 20 countries across Latin America, North America, Africa and Europe.
