Business matchmaking rounds connected 24 Brazilian suppliers with 10 importers from key Latin American markets
The Buyer Project – Suppliers edition, held on August 4 and 5 during FIMMA Brasil 2025 in Bento Gonçalves (Rio Grande do Sul), generated US$ 4.86 million in immediate deals and projected business for the next 12 months. The initiative has proven to be a strategic tool for strengthening the positioning and international presence of the Brazilian furniture supply chain.
Organized by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), under the suppliers’ vertical (components, machinery, and inputs) of the Brazilian Furniture Project, the action brought together 24 Brazilian companies and 10 international buyers from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
In total, 250 business meetings were held, resulting in 160 commercial contacts, of which 91% were new connections for the Brazilian participants.

International context
The 2025 edition of the Buyer Project at FIMMA Brasil took place in a scenario of growing geopolitical instability, with new tariff barriers and trade restrictions impacting global supply chains. Among these challenges is the 50% surcharge imposed by the U.S. government on a wide range of Brazilian products — including those from the furniture chain — affecting established partnerships and trade flows.
Against this backdrop, strengthening ties with international buyers has become even more relevant to enhance global integration, ensure predictability in trade relations, and reinforce the competitiveness of the Brazilian supply chain. The closer relationship with Latin American importers is particularly strategic, improving logistics efficiency and consolidating Brazil’s role as a reference as a supplier of technology, components, and inputs for the region’s furniture industry.
By doing so, the Buyer Project reinforces the systemic vision of the Brazilian Furniture Project: to promote the entire network of products and solutions that support and drive the industry.
Brazilian Furniture Project
The Brazilian Furniture Project is a joint initiative by ABIMÓVEL and ApexBrasil to expand the international presence of the Brazilian furniture industry through strategic actions focused on sustainability, competitiveness, innovation, and global positioning. Currently, around 175 companies take part in the project.
In its 2025–2026 cycle, the project operates through two complementary verticals. The first focuses on finished furniture, bringing together manufacturers and designers that represent the originality, quality, and identity of Brazilian furniture. The second focuses on industry suppliers, including companies producing components, machinery, inputs, and technologies, positioning Brazil as a comprehensive solutions partner for the global furniture industry — from raw materials to the finished product.
This integrated approach broadens the sector’s global reach, diversifies markets, and strengthens the Brazil brand as a competitive player in the international arena. Companies interested in joining the project can visit brazilianfurniture.org.br.
