Following a notable presence at Milan Design Week 2024, the Brazilian Furniture Project, led by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), now crosses the ocean to soon arrive at New York Design Week in the United States.
Through the project, 28 Brazilian companies have already confirmed their participation in the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair), which will take place from May 19 to 21, 2024, in New York.
Among the participating companies, 13 will showcase their products in exclusive booths, and all of them will engage in business rounds with international buyers. Moreover, nine Brazilian brands will also present 18 new furniture pieces developed in collaboration with national designers through the “Design + Industry” program, which will have a special exhibition at the fair, following the success of the initiative at the Salone del Mobile.Milano (Milan Furniture Fair 2024).
In the coffee area, specially designed to welcome and integrate visitors and exhibitors, the space ios occupied by Florense. Meanwhile, the Akra Collection enhances the “Design + Industry” exhibition with the Tropical Forest hammock, a piece that is an ode to traditional techniques and natural fibers found in Brazil, kindly lent to the project.

“The ICFF is more than just a trade fair. It serves as a meeting point for the global design community in North America. And of course, with the mission to promote and highlight Brazilian furniture in all regions of the world, the participation of the Brazilian Furniture Project in such an event in the USA is crucial,” says Cândida Cervieri, Executive Director of ABIMÓVEL and manager of Brazilian Furniture. She adds, “We are ready to bring the Brazilian flair that caught so much attention in Milan for its aesthetic, material, and sustainable qualities to New York, another major power for global design.”
In 2023, the Brazilian participation promoted by the Brazilian Furniture Project resulted in 3,358 contacts, 87.3% of whom were new business partners, generating approximately US$106.8 million in immediate or projected businesses for the following 12 months.
The United States, in fact, is the main import market for Brazilian furniture, having been the destination for 31.9% of the total exported by the national furniture industry in 2023.
