Brasília Design Week 2025 is coming: The National Museum of the Republic will host the ‘Design + Industry’ exhibition starting June 17

Following showings in Milan and New York, the 2025 edition of the exhibition—featuring works developed by Brazilian designers and manufacturers with the support of the Brazilian Furniture Project—lands in Brazil’s capital city

Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, Brasília reaffirms its commitment to design and innovation as it hosts the “Design + Industry” exhibition from June 17 to 24, at the iconic National Museum of the Republic, as part of the official program of Brasília Design Week 2025 (BDW).

The exhibition is organized by ABIMÓVEL (The Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association)—an official BDW partner—in collaboration with ApexBrasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), under the umbrella of the Brazilian Furniture Project.

After making a strong impression on the international stage—at events such as Salone del Mobile.Milano in Italy and ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York—selected pieces now return to Brazilian audiences in one of the country’s most emblematic cultural venues, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and located in the heart of Brasília’s Monumental Axis.

Design + Industry

More than just a furniture showcase, Design + Industry is the tangible result of a long-term strategy focused on innovation, sustainability, and added value within the Brazilian furniture sector,” says Cândida Cervieri, Executive Director of ABIMÓVEL.

The exhibition features original works created through collaborative partnerships between designers and manufacturers from different regions of Brazil. These projects are the outcome of the Design + Industry program, which promotes production excellence, social and environmental responsibility, creative innovation, and Brazil’s rich cultural diversity as strategic assets in global markets.

This initiative is one of the pillars of the Brazilian Furniture Project, a joint effort by ABIMÓVEL and ApexBrasil to drive the competitiveness and internationalization of Brazilian furniture brands.

Design is a foundational asset for industrial competitiveness. With Design + Industry, we show how the collaboration between designers and manufacturers not only results in products with strong cultural and commercial appeal, but also transforms processes and strengthens Brazil’s position as a producer of forward-thinking furniture solutions,” adds Cervieri.

From Brazil to the World

The exhibition is one of the highlights of Brasília Design Week 2025, a flagship initiative of the Brasília City of Design Movement, which promotes the creative economy through design-centered public policies, education, innovation, and urban development. The title of “City of Design” was officially granted to Brasília by UNESCO.

This year’s BDW theme, “Design, Memory and Future,” brings a multidisciplinary program of lectures, guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, and urban interventions. The goal is to spark meaningful dialogue between tradition and innovation, while showcasing creativity as a tool for cultural transformation and economic growth.

The arrival of the Design + Industry exhibition in Brasília represents the Brazilian furniture industry’s growing commitment to cultural exchange, sustainability, and market relevance. It is an invitation to the general public, as well as business leaders, design professionals, students, researchers, specifiers, influencers, and specialized media in the country, to experience firsthand the innovations that have placed Brazilian design on the global map.

Brazilian Furniture Project

The Brazilian Furniture Project is a sectoral initiative by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with ApexBrasil. Its goal is to expand the international presence of Brazil’s furniture industry through a strategic set of actions grounded in sustainability, competitiveness, and design integration. Currently, around 175 companies are engaged in the project.

In 2024, Brazil ranked as the sixth-largest furniture and mattress producer in the world and the 26th largest exporter, generating over US$ 763.02 million in revenue from finished products — a 3.8% increase compared to 2023. Including parts for furniture manufacturing, the total reached US$ 870.20 million.

In this new cycle (2025–2026), the organizers invite not only furniture manufacturers and designers, but also suppliers and component producers to join the project, further amplifying the reach of Brazilian furniture and reinforcing the global competitiveness of the “Brazil” brand.
