Brasília Design Week 2026 Connects Design, Territory and the Creative Economy This June

Running from June 8 to 14, BDW26 will feature talks, workshops, exhibitions, roundtables, guided tours, retail circuits and activations across key venues in Brazil’s capital

Brasília Design Week 2026 will take place from June 8 to 14 in Brazil’s federal capital, with a program dedicated to design as a meeting point between culture, territory, innovation, industry and the creative economy. Under the theme “Design Connecting Territories,” BDW26 will occupy the Memorial of Indigenous Peoples and other landmark venues across the city, including Brasília Shopping and the National Museum of the Republic, bringing together different ways of thinking, making and inhabiting.

Organized by the Brazil Institute of Creative Economy and Instituto Desponta Brasil, BDW26 is supported by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Industry Association), ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), Sebrae (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service), the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federal District, the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the Federal District, and other partner institutions.

Over the course of seven days, the program will include talks, workshops, lectures, book launches, collaborations, roundtables, guided visits to embassies, a circular design and fashion fair, exhibitions, culinary experiences and activations throughout the city. The initiative aims to bring creators, companies, artisans, institutions and the public closer together, expanding the links between local production, the national market and contemporary discussions around design in its many fields — from the arts to the ways we live.

Recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Design since 2017, Brasília once again positions itself as fertile ground for this dialogue. Its architecture, urban layout, cultural diversity and vocation for institutional encounters make the federal capital a symbolic setting for reflecting on the role of design in shaping solutions and creating new relationships between people, objects and places.

Within this context, ABIMÓVEL’s participation in BDW26 reinforces the connection between design, industry and market as a pathway to generating value, competitiveness and identity for Brazilian furniture. The association brings to the event an agenda aligned with the concept of “Connections,” which has guided recent sector initiatives by bringing together raw materials, production processes, creative repertoire, technical knowledge, territory and global presence.

Among the highlights is the Design + Industry Showcase, an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL in partnership with ApexBrasil under the Brazilian Furniture Project. The program fosters collaboration between designers and manufacturers from different regions, scales and areas of expertise, showing how the integration of creativity and production can result in furniture and objects aligned with contemporary demands, the intelligent use of materials and the appreciation of Brazilian identity.

ABIMÓVEL’s agenda at BDW26 will also include panels with professionals who have contributed to expanding these connections and strengthening design, industry and the Brazil brand on the global stage:
